Captain Scalawag & the Quest for the Treasure of Siren’s Song

Script Written by Tim Williams

Directed by Mary DeMichele

Embark on an exciting interactive pirate adventure through the waters of the Lake of the Ozarks in the all-new escapade for 2024, “Captain Scalawag & the Quest for the Treasure of Siren’s Song.” Join the crew of Captain Scalawag and set sail aboard Calypso to decipher the secrets of a pirate diary handed down from buccaneer crew to buccaneer crew, rumored to hold clues to the location of the fabled treasure of a mermaid princess. Navigate treacherous waters, solve cryptic riddles and outsmart rival pirates as you journey in search of lost and possibly cursed riches. Will you unravel the mysteries of the diary and the curse and claim the legendary treasure, or will you fall victim to the perils of the deep and the Siren’s song? Fate, fortune and glory lie in your hands.

Reviews

  • "We took our grandson and his cousin on the Calypso, and they had a fabulous time! Captain Scallywag and his First Mate, Ruby, did an awesome job on the short boat ride to Cannonball Bay, during the treasure hunt on the grounds of Wonderland Camp, and on short boat ride back to Jolly Rogers. The kids received pirate hats, a small bag of treasure from the treasure chest, a certificate and a pirate ring. They've also enjoyed using all of the pirate words they were taught prior to getting on the boat. This is the best kid-friendly adventure at the Lake of the Ozarks."

  • "This is hands down the best attraction in the Ozarks for any age! The creativity and passion the Captain and his crew put into this adventure is evident in all the details that make you feel like you're really sailing the seven seas. The pirate hats upon arrival, the gems after solving the riddles and clues, and the certificates earned for completing their quest were amazing and loved by the kids. But the true treasure were the memories we made as a family on this adventure. This was our second time, and it was just as magical as the first time with a whole new adventure for the kids to solve. I can't imagine all the time and energy that went into creating this experience, but we are so appreciative that the Captain and his crew worked so hard to create this adventure to spark all our imaginations for a lasting memory."

  • "We went on a 2 hour sunset cruise on July 3rd. Captain Tyler did a great job taking us on a tour of the lake and getting the boat in perfect position to watch the sunset. As the sun was going down, we were able to watch some fireworks as we were out on the water. Captain Tyler continue to work his magic and kept maneuvering the boat so that we could see the majority of the fireworks that were going off around us. The first mate did a great job keeping everyone safe and keeping everyone engaged in the ride!"

The making of calypso

Many years ago, the pirate ship Calypso started sailing on the waters of the Mississippi River around St. Louis.  In 2015, Joe and Christie Jung brought Calypso to the Lake of the Ozarks in order to expand the pirate theme of the Grub n' Grog restaurant

Another interesting fact about the Calypso is that its hull is double lined with a foam filling.  According to her creator, Captain Tim Woodson, you could fill the boat with water and it would still float due to the buoyancy of the foam.  Aboard the ship you can see the original troop transport in the seats and layout.  Come aboard and see this transformed piece of history first hand.

The Pirate Ship Calypso is the artistic work of Captain Tim Woodson who converted this historic US Navy troop transport vessel, originally commissioned to the John F. Kennedy aircraft carrier from 1995 to 2007, into the pirate ship you see today. Calypso is a United States Coast Guard Inspected Vessel that is certified to carry up to 44 passengers within the navigable waterways of the Lake of the Ozarks.
